Quite a few Transition Woodbridge members joined in the litterpick today, promoted by The River Deben Association as part of the Preventing Plastic Pollution project fronted by the Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust.
In order to achieve the ambition of preventing litter being dropped in the first place, the trust employed a citizen science approach to the litter picking. They recorded every piece of litter found, it’s material make up and origin. Quite a feat when you see how many bags of rubbish were collected!
Of course, every piece of rubbish collected along the riverside is one less piece ending up in the ocean. Well done team!
