SUMMARY:Talk: Sirens and Citizen Science
DESCRIPTION:Workshop showcasing the activities of the Deben Climate Centre River quality monitoring team. \nThe focus of this talk will be to use the River Deben as an example of where volunteers backed by scientific expertise are bringing new insights to bear on the state of our natural environment. We will look not just at the alarming results of the pollution coming from waste water and from human activity but also at how to establish a credible volunteer network to monitor the state of our rivers and estuaries and press for improvements in their quality. \nFind out more and book tickets.

SUMMARY:Talk: Beavers really do make a difference for the better
DESCRIPTION:Beavers are the ultimate ecosystem engineers most noted for their ability to build dams\, but what are the consequences of these activities? \nThrough the release of beavers in Essex (and in many other projects around the UK) it has been possible to assess the impacts on water quality\, biodiversity and natural flood management and discover whether the positives outweigh the negatives. \nThe Wildlife Trusts are now calling for the long delayed licences to reintroduce wild-living beavers but what would this look like and can it really assist in combatting the Climate and Biodiversity Crises? \nFind out more and book tickets.
