DESCRIPTION:First of all a huge thank you again for taking part in our bat survey between May and September 2023. \n\nMark Bowler from the University of Suffolk will be presenting the debrief of last year’s results on Thursday 28th March\, 7pm at Woodbridge Community Hall to which you are warmly invited\,\n\nThe results so far look really good with all the same species recorded as in 2022.  Everyone in Woodbridge and Melton has common and soprano pipistrelles and most have more species than these.   The results emphasize again the importance of woody areas such as Martlesham Creek\, Porters Wood\, Melton Woods\, Wilford Bridge lakes for potential roosts.\n\n\nThere are far fewer bat numbers though than 30 years ago so we do have to redouble our efforts to encourage bats here by planting trees and shrubs\, keeping grass longer and having patches of scrub\, and especially by installing a pond!   Join up with your neighbours and sign up through our website https://transitionwoodbridge.org.uk/local-wildlife-corridors/ to our green corridors project where we have an enewsletter and events to give people ideas for wilding their gardens or green space. \n\nHope to see you on 28th March\n\nJane and the TW team

Meet 6.45am @ Newbourne Springs \n  \n\nWaldringfield Wildlife Group exists to conserve\, enhance and record the local wildlife; to protect wildlife habitats and encourage biodiversity; to encourage wildlife-friendly management of land\, gardens and public spaces and to encourage a greater interest in the knowledge and love of wildlife in general. \nMeetings & Talks are in the Deben Hall at the Village Hall. \nMembers meetings start at 10.00am which precede the talks. Refreshment break 10.45am. \nTalks start at 11.00am unless otherwise stated. Members: No charge.     Visitors welcome. \nAdmission charge: £3.00 for visitors and non-members. SUMMARY:Peat Free Plant Sale
DESCRIPTION:Suffolk Wildlife Trust\, Woodbridge Wildlife Group’s popular annual Peat Free Plant Sale will be held at Foxburrow Nature Reserve\, Saddlemakers Lane\, Melton on Sunday 5 May between 2pm and 4pm. \nAll the plants sold will be in peat free compost. Entry to the event is free and visitors will find the usual mix of locally grown plants\, second hand books\, a raffle and refreshments. In addition\, Suffolk’s Master Composters will be on hand with plenty of advice to offer visitors. \nFunds raised from this event benefit Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Please note no dogs\, apart from assistance dogs\, are allowed at Foxburrow Nature Reserve.
