SUMMARY:Woodbridge Transition Climate Cafe Conversations 2024
DESCRIPTION:Why do we need Climate Cafés?\nWe need the kind of exploration that climate cafés provide as it becomes more evident that climate and ecological breakdown are not far-away problems but a clear\, present and accelerating danger to our own safety and wellbeing. People increasingly need to talk about what our changing world means for them in terms of impacts at personal\, family and societal level. We need to imagine it in some detail so as to be able to think about it constructively and clear-sightedly\, and to explore some complex feelings and thoughts which may often be taboo and hard to talk about. \nWhat happens during a Climate Café?\nThe focus of discussion is participants’ thoughts and feelings about the climate and ecological crisis. There are no guest speakers and no talks\, and it is an advice-free zone. Whilst the climate and ecological crisis is usually the main focus of the café we realise too\, in these exceptional times\, that mental & physical illness\, increasing polarisation\, AI\, and global conflict are other life-threatening preoccupations and may need a space to be explored – and this can happen here too. \n\nA place to speak freely about your feelings\, or just listen to others\nFacilitated by Martin Wilks and Jane Ryan\nTea\, coffee and cake will be served\nThis gathering is free of charge\n\nBook your free place

SUMMARY:Screening of the film Wilding
DESCRIPTION:The film Wilding is screening at the cinema at Woodbridge Riverside for four days. \nBased on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title\, Wilding tells the incredible story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing\, four-hundred-year-old estate. They set to work with their groundbreaking vision\, battling entrenched tradition and major forces along the way\, daring to place the fate of their farm in the hands of nature. Ripping down the fences\, they set the land back to the wild and entrust its recovery to a motley mix of animals both tame and wild. It is the beginning of a grand experiment that will become one of the most significant rewilding experiments in Europe and beyond. \nFind out more and book tickets.
